Citrix ShareFile Alert: Do not remove file extensions
Since HRSA has required all health centers to use Citrix ShareFile for sharing their compliance files with the HRSA Virtual Operational Site Visit, reviewers have been noticing that from time-to-time, they are unable to open documents uploaded in the Citrix ShareFiles. The preview “fails” and the reviewer is unable to view the documents. Some have found a work-around step to be clicking on the “Download” button and then the reviewer is able to view the document.
However, this week, when working with a RegLantern subscriber, our team was troubleshooting this issue in ShareFile and discovered a common theme: Files that had been renamed and the file extension (“.docx”, “.pdf”, “.xls”, etc.) had been removed were the files that were not opening in Citrix ShareFile.
Upon researching the issue, this was found to be a known problem and users are advised to NOT REMOVE FILE EXTENSIONS when renaming documents in Citrix ShareFile.
So, until this is fixed by Citrix, health centers should ensure they are not removing the file extensions when renaming their documents based on the naming convention required in the HRSA Site Visit Protocol and will later be loaded into the ShareFile platform (whether using RegLantern or not). Stay tuned to RegLantern’s blog for updates on this Citrix ShareFile issue as well as best practices when preparing to be continuously compliant with HRSA’s health center program requirements.
